An Indian Ceremony and Sangeet in Silverthorne, Colorado
I wasn’t fully prepared for the magic that our Colorado weekend would hold.
As we prepared to travel to Keystone, to see Megan and Zubin, Josh’s dad passed away unexpectedly. The Shah and McCarver families were so supportive and kind.
As we arrived to Colorado, we knew it was the place we needed to be for a couple of days as we captured celebrations and love. The Colorado mountains were shining and we were fully prepared for a magical Indian wedding celebration. I’m pretty sure a Colorado Wedding will forever be a favorite!
As we walked into this Colorado Wedding venue, my heart fluttered. It was everything Megan had described on our calls, and more. The colors and beauty, the authentic moments of the culture. I couldn’t stop watching all of the family jumping in to help. It was truly a beautiful moment to soak in.
The Indian culture is bold and bright and full of life. The smiles and joy were everywhere. As we photographed the sweet moments of Megan getting dressed in her Lehenga, with her mom, I was learning all of the amazing things about this culture. They love bold colors on a wedding day! It symbolizes the joy and celebration of this momentous moment.
I think the one thing I loved most about this Colorado Wedding day was how everyone was ready to celebrate. Most have traveled from many miles away, they came ready to love on this sweet couple and they went all in.
Will I ever get over the attire from this Colorado Wedding day and Indian wedding celebration? I probably won’t. Each outfit had been created by family in India. The measurements sent over many months in advance so that they would be ready for this beautiful celebration. And they did not disappoint. I knew they would be exceptional and everything about this day was just that! Amazing!
If I could personally pick a favorite part of this Colorado Wedding, it would be the Baraat before the wedding ceremony began. The dancing and fun was fully of laughter. The bridesmaids even hid and surprised the wedding party with a first look and a fun dance.
Zubin rode in on a pedicab with music and his guys around him. As he entered the doors for his wedding celebration to begin, he was greeted by Megan’s mother to welcome him to the ceremony.
Everything about this celebration is so different from what we see on a normal wedding weekend and I love how the culture views this day as a joyous celebration. Nothing about this day was boring or routine. It was beautiful and every single moment has beautiful meaning.
The Jain ceremony began and this Colorado Wedding was on its way. A big deal in an Indian ceremony is the stealing of the groom’s shoes. Bridesmaids hid trying to capture his shoes, but unfortunately they didn’t have much luck. There was definitely a lot of laughter as they tried their best to capture their goal shoes. More than that, the beauty in the ceremony and the pillars on which they pledged their love was poignant and priceless. I loved watching Megan and Zubin devote their love to one another as they sat with their parents.
Family is everything, but especially in the Indian culture and you could sense the love for everybody in the room. I was especially fond of Zubin’s parents, Bindu and Jayesh, and Megan’s parents, Charles and Charlene. I have a feeling this Colorado Wedding will give us friends in them for a lifetime to come.
Megan’s henna was so gorgeous and I couldn’t resist photographing it as much as possible. Taking these two down to the river in Silverthorne was a must. It was so romantic and beautiful and you could see the love in their eyes as we photographed them as newlyweds. Many surprises were to come, but in this moment, it was just the two of them in love. They had been waiting for this day for so long, and we were so exciting to capture these first moments of them as husband and wife.
As we moved inside, the Sangeet was set to begin and I love how this culture comes together to dance and celebrate. I could have watched the dancing all evening.
Megan and Zubin could not have asked for a more exciting and fun start to their wedding weekend. We smiled and laughed, we enjoyed the Colorado Wedding vibes, we hugged and ate amazing food…it was pure magic.
And just when the night ended, we prepared for the next day.
We sure do love these two. We are so honored and happy to have walked through this day with them!
Check back early next week, because their Keystone wedding day is coming up on the blog next, and you will NOT want to miss it!
And now, I want everyone to have a full weekend of weddings because I love the extra time for this Colorado Wedding day!
Megan and Zubin! We sure do love you both!
