A Jekyll Island Club Wedding || Westin Jekyll + St. Andrews Beach

Natalie and Ryan are one of those dream beach couples. They were super relaxed throughout planning and definitely on wedding day. Their dream was to have an intimate wedding day with family and friends. A Jekyll Island wedding day was at hand and these two were determined to enjoy every second of their special day.

We started the day at the Westin on Jekyll. There were many weddings happening on this day, but I promise you that the most fun wedding day was right where we were. Natalie got ready with her mom and sisters around her. Her sisters are amazing and helped with so many of the small details going on during the day. We captured the details inside, something different for us…because the wind was whipping everywhere.

The days leading into the wedding, Natalie and I would chat about weather and we both prayed for no rain. It had been predicted at 92% for the day. What we negated to pray for and about was the wind. A rare cold front moved in on this Jekyll Island Wedding day and it was very cold and extremely windy. Looking back on the records from that day, it says the wind was at 40 miles an hour at some points.

All of that to say, these guys were in it to win it for the whole day. I am still impressed by the family and friends that stayed close to the family through the cold weather. It shows their love and respect for this very special couple.

We always tell brides that we love to photograph wind, but it’s true. This Jekyll Island wedding was giving us magic dress and veil shots and the trees were just magic.

Natalie was amazing at rolling with everything that needed to change in each moment. I told her I want her to write it out for others to see. She kept saying, it’s all ok. No matter what I am married today and that’s what I wanted. A beautiful statement to remember as a bride. Things do happen on each wedding day, it’s how we handle it that really matters. Natalie and Ryan did an amazing job at keeping the focus on their love, for their special Jekyll Island Wedding.

The ceremony started under the beautiful trees at Moss Cottage on Jekyll Island. I am sure the bystanders driving by wondered how cold we all were, but honestly we were all warm because of the love that was there that day. Natalie’s brother married them and the most special friends and family were present.

It truly was a magical ceremony full of love and support for two very special people.

After the ceremony, we captured a few family shots and some beautiful shots of this amazing couple!

Their Jekyll Island wedding day dreams may be a little wind, but they have come true! We were so happy for this amazing couple.

After their formals, we headed to one of my favorite spots on Jekyll Island, St. Andrews Beach. Did you know that it’s the only location, in all of the Golden Isles, to see the sunset on the actual beach. Because we are the east coast and the Atlantic Ocean, the sun rises here (which is magical) but it doesn’t set over the water. It’s not always bad, but I do miss that light over the water like you see in the Gulf.

We got to experience that with Natalie and Ryan. The gorgeous sun came out to play on this evening and we captured some magic before heading to their secret picnic spot.

And this picnic. Holy moly, Picnic Culture of the Golden Isles did an AMAZING job! It looked like a styled shoot on the beach.

We had the most amazing Jekyll Island Wedding with this beautiful couple. They live down the road from us so I am just excited that we can see them more than their wedding day.

Congrats, Mr. and Mrs. Hughes! We wish a lifetime of happiness and can’t wait to watch your love story unfold!!!
